Update from the Legal Clinic
Mission First is pleased to announce that our own staff attorney, Carlyn Hicks, JD, will be taking the reins as Director of our Legal Aid Clinic. Carlyn is well-suited to take this role. Her accolades are extensive and include being a founding member of the Mississippi Parent Representation Task Force, a board member of the Central Mississippi’s chapter of the Christian Legal Society, serving as Board President of Families as Allies, and is the creator of the Annual Feed Jackson Initiative: Dining with Dignity Pop-Up Restaurant for the Homeless and Food Insecure.
Carlyn won the 2015 National Child Advocacy Award, has been named Mentor of the Year for the Gamma Rho Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and was a 2016 Hometown Hero for Visit Jackson, MS! She was recently elected to The Fellows of the American Bar Association and nominated to Leadership Greater Jackson. She is also a member of the National Advisory Committee for the Family Justice Initiative.
Carlyn is passionate about the legal profession and the community she serves and longs to bring the two together. Mission First looks forward with great expectancy to how Carlyn will lead our clinic to the glory of God.
