Mission First Adds New Staff Attorney

In February, Sarah Mann joined the Mission First family as one of our staff attorneys. Prior to coming to our Legal Aid Office, Sarah became a member of the Mississippi Bar Association and also completed two externships. In the spring of 2016, she completed an externship for the Mississippi State Medical Association while in the spring of 2017 she completed one with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Philip Gunn.

Sarah is a native of Clinton, wife to Logan, and proud mom of David. She earned three degrees from Mississippi College – a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science, a Master of Social Science in History and Political Science, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Mississippi College School of Law. During law school, Sarah was part of the guardian ad litem program. Helping children and families is something she is passionate about and it’s one of the things that initially drew her to Mission First. “What’s important to me is if I feel like I’m making a difference in somebody’s life. I feel like I can lay my head on my pillow at night and sleep well.” Although she didn’t necessarily see herself in the courtroom, Sarah is thankful to be a part of the work being done through the Mission First Legal Aid Office. She says this is a way for her to challenged and stretched on a daily basis.

In addition to being a gifted attorney, Sarah is also an accomplished dancer who at one point owned her own dance studio. Growing up, she was a competitive dancer and cheerleader. She had an opportunity to open her studio in her hometown, so she did just that. She hopes to be able to incorporate her love and talent for dance with her time here at Mission First.

We are grateful for all Sarah brings to our Legal Aid Office. One of her favorite scriptures in Proverbs 31:8, which says “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Please join us in welcoming Sarah to the Mission First family.
